Welcome to my Blog!

Hi Everyone!

Although I posted my first blog or two last April, I am very much a novice to blogging.  Today, nearly a year later, I am at the library with a friend (also a sole proprietor) trying this out as "blogging partners"! Our goal is to support one another, to be accountable, and to show up weekly to begin the journey of becoming "bloggers"!!

As some of you know, or probably most of you if you are reading this, my name is Jamie Kilgore and I am a photographer, owner of Jamie Kilgore Photography, LLC.  In April I celebrate 15 years of being in business. It is hard to believe I have had the honor of documenting and watching so many children grow up!  Where does the time go?

I have a passion that is very alive; I love connecting with all people and families, but especially children. I always have. I loved filling my schedule with babysitting jobs when I was growing up. When I was 13 I vividly remember telling myself that as I grew up I wanted to be sure to remember what it was like to be a child, to make sure I always put myself into the mind of the child, at that age or any age, and think what it must feel like to be "in those shoes". Throughout my life I have always tried to remember to do so, whether it be in photographing other children or in raising my own. I do believe that sense of empathy has rubbed off on my children:).

It's easy to go through the hustles and bustles of daily life and forget to empathize with others. Some people call it being sensitive. Or even over-sensitive.  Yes, yes, I admit I am sensitive.  I cry in movies, a LOT!  My daughter always makes a point to look to see my reaction when we are watching a movie, or even a commercial.....Years ago I remember people saying....."Jamie even CRIES at AT&T commercials".  Yes, that's me! :)

Ok, so what's my point? The long and short of it is that I believe who I am as a person allows me to capture the essence and the genuine personality of the children I am photographing. I take my time and I give them time. I don't rush. They run around, they dance, we play.  One of the reasons I am never in any sort of a hurry is it allows the children to naturally unwind and relax with me.  I thoroughly relish the opportunity to get to know them, to connect with them.  There is such a freedom in being able to honestly capture children being children. The cherry on my sundae is creating the memories in Black and White! :)

So, that is a little bit about me and my reflection on my past, my passion and my photography!

Thank you for reading my post!  Have a great weekend!

Xoxo

Jamie
